PURPOSE

Developing young adults through the enhancement of their leadership abilities and ministry skills. This development is achieved through collegiate level biblical education, leadership training, working with ministry staff, participating and providing leadership for events and/or outreaches, and fulfilling a leadership role for a specific group of people within Chico First Assembly.

2 Timothy 2:1-2
Timothy, my dear son, be strong with the special favor God gives you in Christ Jesus. You have heard me teach many things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Teach these great truths to trustworthy people who are able to pass them on to others. (NLT)

Ephesians 4:11-12
He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. (NLT)

Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (NLT)

It is a biblical commandment to train and raise up leaders. Each generation of believers is responsible to raise up disciples among the next, instructing them in the things of God and in ministering to the needs of those within and outside the church; it is the primary purpose of the church. Paul gives the mandate to Timothy, as a minister, to not only live the biblical truths that he learned from Paul; but also to impart the knowledge he has gained to others (I Timothy 2:1-2). It is also found in Ephesians chapter 4 that it is the responsibility of the leaders of the church to equip God’s people for ministry. In the process of training leaders, the church enlarges its capacity to minister to the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of its members as well as people in the community.
